Nellie van der Merwe from Wellington was the second youngest daughter from a family of 13 children. Oupa Carel used to tell how he crossed the Slanghoek Mountains on foot to visit his sweetheart Nellie on weekends. Cottage 4 is the only one with a view of the hole in the Slanghoek Mountains. It reminds us of the eye of a needle and Ouma Nellie’s love for needlework, knitting, and especially the finest crochet work.

With an open plan kitchen including a gas hob, microwave oven, fridge, kettle and toaster, you will be able to prepare almost any meal. To make your stay extra comfortable we supply all the luxuries you will need, including towels, good quality linen. We also provide you with a bundle of firewood for your slow-combustion fireplace, hot tub and outside braai.  Wifi available. A camping cot can be arranged for toddlers. Sweet, clear water from the Badsberg mountain stream fill our taps and is perfectly safe to drink. Celebration We provide something extra for special occasions on pre-arrangement at additional cost.
