Lang Jan Rousseau is seen as the pioneer of Slanghoek, the first land owner of the greater part of Slanghoek since 1847. He made his home at Opstal de Fonteine where he initially farmed with livestock, of which the stone dipping kraal remains as evidence. He divided the large farm, De Hoek, into nine farms for each of his children. He must have had a very natural aptitude for farm design because each of those nine farms had access to water from the Slanghoeksrivier, and every farm stretched from east to west and consequently had clay, loam, and sandy soil.

With an open plan kitchen including a gas hob, microwave oven, fridge, kettle and toaster, you will be able to prepare almost any meal. To make your stay extra comfortable we supply all the luxuries you will need, including towels, good quality linen. We also provide you with a bundle of firewood for your slow-combustion fireplace, hot tub and outside braai.  Wifi available. A camping cot can be arranged for toddlers. Sweet, clear water from the Badsberg mountain stream fill our taps and is perfectly safe to drink. Celebration We provide something extra for special occasions on pre-arrangement at additional cost. This free-standing unit, with one king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom, is suited for two adults. It is equipped with an outside deck, wood-fired hot tub, and private outside shower. This is ideal for a bridal party or a romantic breakaway.

Our restaurant might not serve dinner, but we do. We offer a variety of meal baskets for pre-order. Whether you prefer steak, lamb, chicken, or even a burger, we have you covered. We also offer a range of freshly made salads, braaibroodjies, and other sides. Don't forget about dessert! Have a look at our treats to end the evening on a sweeter note.
We also offer breakfast baskets for those who prefer to make it instead of coming down to our restaurant. You can choose between a hot breakfast basket or a continental basket, to be delivered to your unit the previous afternoon. They even inlcude a juice!
Please note that we are a self catering establishment, some of the items in your meal basket will be for self preparation.
